Community Profile

This is a community for very short texts from all Tolkien fandoms (word count: up to 1000 words, especially 500 words or less), such as ficlets, all types of fixed-length forms, and poetry. (But no real person fiction, please, sorry!)

Works should be able to be read on their own to be posted here, even if they are part of series or set in a writer's universe, not be teasers for a longer project.

The aim is to give more exposure to very short works than they might receive on an archive. You are very welcome to cross-post works from elsewhere. But please post every work, no matter how short, in a separate post, unless works actually form a sequence. There is no minimum word count.

All rating systems commonly in use are acceptable. Please take care to label and tag any of the following clearly: Mature, Explicit, Choose not to rate (or: Adult, NC-17).

Please warn for: Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-con, Underage. Alternatively choose "Choose not to warn". Please consider warning for other possibly triggering content.

Putting story text under the cut is strongly recommended, especially if your text is more than 100 words long. The cut is required if the content has the following ratings: Mature, Explicit, Choose not to rate (or: Adult, NC-17). If you should run into technical problems inserting the cut, please add an explanation to the post and try again later. If the cut cannot be implemented, the whole post needs to be set to the appropriate rating.


It is also acceptable to post links to ficlets (or other texts). Please use an appropriate header also when posting links.

Please join the community to use the provided tags. You will receive an author tag on posting and missing tags will be added to your entry as needed.

The community is intended to be friendly and inclusive. No flaming, please. It is recommended to offer concrit only if the author has requested it.

Prompts will be posted occasionally, but prompts and fills are entirely optional. The community itself is not challenge-based.
