Summary: Feanor and Nerdanel enjoy roaming about in Valinor in their youth, but they are not the first to do so.
Author notes: Earlier version was for Indis Day at Finwean Ladies week on Tumblr. This version re-written as drabble for Tolkien_100 for the prompt Repurposed.

‘Where are you off to tomorrow, Feanaro?’ With Nerdanel, Indis meant.

Feanor gave her a slightly wary look.

‘We thought we would go to the Blue Fountain and head north-west from there.’

‘Ah,’ said Indis, ‘I went that way once.’

She cast about her for something to write on, took the dinner menu, turned it over and drew a rough map on the back, clearly marking good resting places that offered water fit to drink.

‘See? Here is how far I went. If you go farther, let me know what you find, will you?’

‘Thank you, I will,’ said Feanor.

A/N: Indis's wanderings are mentioned in the History of Middle-earth, although it is not clear how far she went. ETA: I managed to omit the first line in cross-posting, but clearly it was comprehensible anyway!

Oh I like this! It's too easy to imagine Indis as stiff and boring simply because she'd Vanyarin, but why do people often do so, really? I think it's because it's tempting to think of the Valar as saints or angels, which would make it easy to imagine a people living with them as dull.

This makes me want to imagine her as dedicated to Nessa, maybe! why not.

Yes! The Vanyar were the pioneers of the Great Journey so they must have been both adventurous and tough! I think of them as becoming a community of martial arts masters meditating and practicing their arts up on the Holy Mountain....

A connection with Nessa would make sense, considering Indis is fleet of foot!

I don't see all of them as adventurous and tough, but some of them very much so.
Indis is clearly strong and I'm intrigued by some of the things we are told about her!
