FROM OUR HEARTS TO YOURS
It was Faramir who began it, encouraging the Rangers to add something new to the Standing Silence. The tradition grew to include their families, then the common folk until, as the years passed, no one remembered when it had been otherwise. Throughout Gondor, at sunset on New Year’s, all people stood quietly and looked to the north. They tried to imagine the Shire, from which the Ring-bearers had come, and, as one, sent forth their thoughts and good wishes.
"We do not forget. May your lands know peace, and your lives only joy. From our hearts to yours... thank you."
