Author's notes: This is my first attempt at song writing, hope it's not too bad (a new hobby I decided to tackle). As you can tell, I'm a fan of metal and that shows in the lyrics hehe.

The candle fell into the waters
Ocean under the blackest sky
A golden glow beneath the ice
Swallowed by the mouth of the shark
That devours everything that sparks

The flame has gone
Away from prying eyes
Away from bitter lies

Mother, we left you behind
My hands were tied
All around us was wrecked
All in vain, nothing left to protect

Golden candle on the table
If I told you what I see
Would you believe me
Or would you laugh at my shackles

Mother, we left you behind
My hands were tied
All around us was wrecked
Nothing to mask my mistake

I have pierced through the mountains
Built a fortress in darkness
Strangled sobs in my throat
Buried under the plea of a ghost

Mother, we left you behind
My hands were tied
Mother, we left you behind
The mark of shame on my flesh
Burns on my wounded face

I pray you'd show me the light again
